Start with one process, not the whole business
Pick the single flow that hurts most, usually enquiry to quotation. Set that up first. A CRM that does one job well gets used; a CRM that tries to do everything on day one gets ignored.
Clean the list before you import it
Remove duplicates, merge the same customer typed three different ways and decide which columns matter. Ten clean columns beat forty messy ones. Agree on stage names now so reports make sense later.
Give every lead an owner and a next step
The most common reason leads are lost is not price. It is that nobody knew whose turn it was. Make owner and next follow-up date the two fields nobody can leave blank.
Run one review a week from the CRM itself
Open the pipeline in your weekly sales meeting instead of asking for updates. When the meeting depends on the CRM, the team keeps it accurate without being reminded.
